Edit Canon EOS C500 Mark II 5.9K/4K videos in Premiere Pro

I’m Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017 user, I like this software very much, I used this editing software to make many videos, some of the materials were shot by smartphone, some were shot by my Full HD camcorder. But I can’t load Canon EOS C500 Mark II 5.9K videos into my Premiere Pro CC. How to solve this problem? I wasted a lot of energy to copy them from the TV station.

The Cinema EOS C500 Mark II features Canon’s high-resolution 5.9K (38.1 x 20.1mm) Full Frame CMOS sensor, which offers exceptional low noise and a broad range of tonality with over 15 stops of dynamic range. The Full Frame sensor is capable of capturing footage in a wide variety of aspect formats, including DCI-4K, UHD and Anamorphic Widescreen. Thanks to the powerful DIGIC DV 7 image processing platform, the EOS C500 Mark II can record Cinema RAW Light directly to onboard CFexpress cards, which keeps the data-rich signal captured by the 5.9K full-frame sensor intact.

Canon XF-AVC proposes a H.264/AVC based format wrapped in MXF files. Filming in RAW gives you more options in post-production, but the file format has in the past been hard to accommodate. A couple of cameras (e.g. Canon EOS C300 Mark III, EOS C500 Mark II, Canon EOS C20 , etc.) are coming out with Cinema RAW Light and XF-AVC support. Although Adobe has added the support for importing, playback and editing of new XF-AVC MXF and CRM video clips since Premiere Pro CC (12.1.0 Build 186), many users are still having problems in importing and editing the C500 Mark II 5.9K and 4K recordings in Premiere Pro? So what’s the matter? What do we know to do to work with MXF and CRM files in Premiere Pro CC or Premiere Pro CS6 without any problem? Read on for details.

Apple ProRes 422 is an editing codec. It uses much less compression, which means that the files are big, but Premiere Pro can play it more easily. Thus, when you get many raw videos and want to edit them with Premiere Pro, it’s better to take advantage of the ProRes codec. Along with some help from a third-party program like Acrok Video Converter Ultimate, you can easily achieve your goal smoothly.
